Have you ever tried thinking out of the box?
Breezy morning with tea i asked myself have i ever tried anything out of the box ?, this reminded me the story of girl i read few months ago, let me share story with you all today.
In a small Indian town, a hundreds of years ago, a small business owner owed a large sum of money to loan-lender. The loan-lender was a very old, unattractive looking guy that just so happened to fancy the business owner’s daughter.
He decided i somehow have to marry business owner’s daughter , so came up with deal that would completely wipe off the debt he owned, anyhow catch was that he will wipe off debt only if he could marry business owner’s daughter.
no point to say, this proposal looked disgust.
Loan-lender came up with idea, he said he would place two pebbles in a bag, one is white and one is black.Then daughter would have to reach a bag and pick one pebble, if it is black pebble debt would wipe off and he would then marry her.If it is white pebble debt would have wipe off but daughter wouldn’t have to marry the loan-lender.
You must be thinking wow that’s nice if businessman’s daughter picks up white pebble they would be debt free.. awe here is a crick.Standing on businessman’s garden in pebble-strewn path loan-lender picked two black pebbles and put it on a bag.
Whilst he was picking pebble businessman’s daughter noticed it.Then he asked daughter to pick a pebble.
Daughter naturally had three option
- Refuse to pick pebble from a bag.
- Open both bags expose him.
- Pick black pebble knowing it and sacrifice herself for father freedom
what would have you chosen ?
She picked up a pebble from bag and before looking at it she dropped it on pebble-strewn.she said to loan shark.”Oh, how clumsy of me.Never mind, if you look into a bag which is left you will be able to find which was dropped pebble”.
The pebble left in the bag is obviously black,and seeing as the loan shark didn’t want to get exposed, he had to play along as if the pebble the daughter dropped was white, and cleared her father’s debt.
What did we learn from story?
It’s always possible to overcome tough situation by out of the box thinking, and not giving into only option you think you have at that moment.
